KOM is here again! Volunteers needed

The Kick out Malaria (KOM) is a signature program of The Iba – Malaria Eradication Foundation and is designed to commemorate the annual UN World Malaria Day. Since 2002, the project has reached hundreds of thousands of people and has been implemented in 5 communities in Lagos State. It has been sponsored by Exxon Mobil, Red Cross Society, Lagos State Ministries of Health and Environment, The Nation Newspaper etc. The program has also won local and international awards such as the National Youth Service Corps Awards, SET Africa Awards, and the Commonwealth Youth Awards (African Section). It has been attended by the US Consul General, Mr. Jeffery Hawkins and will be attended by members of the German community this year. The project involves distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets, Environmental Clean Up Exercise, distribution of anti-malarial drugs, education of community members and/or installation of waste bins.

This year’s program will hold at Abule Oja, Yaba on April 25th. It will start by 7am (because of environmental sanitation exercise) and will end by 2noon.

Volunteers are needed to participate in all the stages of the exercise. There will be a prior meeting to talk about duties in details. Capable people passionate about community development work who can be committed are needed.

    • Hello Innocent! Looks like your age might be an issue but it’s definitely inspiring to see the very young motivated and drawn to community leadership. 😀

  2. Hi im interested but all my comments are awaiting moderation while i can see other peoples comments. whats the issue?

  3. malaria has claimed life so this will be an opportunity to mitigate against it am good to go with this programme.

  4. Good evening, please, I am interested in this program happening on the 25th of April at Abule Oja.

    • Hi! That’s great but we cannot find you in our records. Did you follow the application instructions or, perhaps, register with a different email than prec***?

  5. I have a passion to serve humanity. I also believe one step to the change the world needs is by showing love trough our service and sharing our time with the deprived people in the society.

  6. I have amazing accounting and admin skills. I’ve now added to those, mental health (and other counseling) activities. I’ve also been a formal and informal tutor practically my whole life.

I live in New York. I’m not working now, and so don’t have much money at all.

But I’m Nigerian. I can offer my brains, my hands, my mental and physical capabilities to help my people.

I have up to 3 months at least to volunteer in my home, Lagos, Nigeria.

So MANY people are in need there.

    I would love to help.
