Job Type: Coordinator, Unpaid, 3 days a week

Term: Minimum 3 Month Commitment

Junior Achievement has a mission to inspire and educate young people to become conscientious business leaders. We achieve this by implementing economic education programs that develop attitudes and skills necessary for personal success and social responsibility. JA started operations in Nigeria in the last quarter of 1999, and since then has reached over 400,000 students in over six hundred and fifty schools in Lagos, Sagamu, Ota, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ilorin, Abuja, Jos, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Port Harcourt, Warri, Uyo, Calabar and Enugu through over 700 volunteers and teachers. Junior Achievement Nigeria (JA Nigeria) offers FREE business economic education programs tailored to add value to young people between the ages of 5 – 27 in Nigeria. JA Nigeria is seeking to reach 1,000,000 young people in Nigeria by the end of year 2020.
A social media volunteer at Junior Achievement Nigeria will be instrumental in increasing our social media presence and getting visibility for our organization. This task requires 5-8 hours weekly, but most days will require a minimum of ½ hour, to keep the communication constant) (minimum 3-month commitment, but longer if you’d like) plus we ask that you join our staff meeting weekly to stay abreast on upcoming activities.

We are looking for a volunteer to assist with our social media marketing efforts. You will be part of a team that works on promoting the organization via social media. You will learn the ins and outs of the organization to assist in making social media a productive part of our overall marketing efforts.

The volunteer is expected to have experience with social media on (at least) a personal level (use on a business level preferred). You must be able to think strategically and see how social media fits into the organization’s marketing strategy, not just telling our followers, but building long-lasting relationships by providing value to them. Volunteers must be able to assist in formulating social media plans (once ample information is provided to you), and then carry them out (with our assistance). You must be able to measure and document the impact of social media, and then suggest action-steps to increase impact.

Coordinator will be performing the following tasks:

 Updating our existing profiles and pages (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
 Uploading videos, photo albums, etc.
 Finding users to follow/friend/like our business
 Writing and posting blog posts/tweets/updates, etc.2 – 5 updates each week
 Tracking the growth and the impact of social media on our organization
 Replying to comments, messages, etc.
 Report findings to the team
 Create and maintain a content editorial calendar
 Consistently learn and grow, ask pertinent questions
 Ability to create and upload Twitter & YouTube backgrounds, and minor video editing skills are a plus
 Develop and launch social campaigns, competitions and contests
 Co‐develop quarterly growth strategies and tactics with Director of Programs
 Identify key metrics and track growth on all channels as well as compile weekly progress reports

Skills and attributes coordinator is expected to have:
 Proficient with Microsoft Office products, possesses functional knowledge or some
 experience with HTML/CSS
 Excellent written and verbal communication, strong editing skills and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment
 Be creative with an eye for design
 Ability to develop a detailed and professional marketing plan
 Knowledge of digital media software – Photoshop or other graphic design software, etc. is preferred
 Knowledge of video editing software – iMovie, Final Cut, or Windows Live Movie Maker is a plus
 Knowledge of social media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, blogs, etc.
 Energy, with a desire to come up with fresh ideas on how to grow our online presence
 Ability to identify a target market and “speak” to that consumer through social media
 Experience proofreading and editing
 Ability to deal with uncertainty
 Ability to contribute individually, and participate in cross-functional teams
 Demonstrated ability to map out a marketing strategy and then drive that strategy proven by testing and metrics
 Is self directed, eager to meet and exceed objectives, and excited to take on more responsibility
 Brings to the position organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
 Ability to communicate results to Director and in a fast paced environment
 Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate tasks at hand as well as foresee upcoming creative opportunities
 Strong commitment to ethics, honesty, and integrity in conducting business
